Sauna Terms & Conditions

The signatory of this document agrees to be held responsible for ensuring that all members of their party and their guests are aware of and follow the guidelines to ensure a safe environment for all.

If the terms agreed to in this disclaimer are breached, Stone Rock Lodge and Stone Rock Foodies Ltd reserve the right to terminate your hire of the Sauna immediately, at their discretion.

I have been provided the opportunity to participate in Stone Rock Lodge (“the Sauna Area and Cold Baths”) and voluntarily agree as follows.

Acknowledgment of Risks

Using the Sauna is an inherently pleasurable and beneficial experience, however, as with all things, there exist elements of risk. Stone Rock Foodies Ltd trading as Stone Rock Lodge has assessed and minimised all foreseeable risks in accordance with UK Health and Safety legislation. However, you must still be mindful of the risk posed by:
  • Slippery surfaces caused by water, ice, snow or other substances.
  • Exposure to cold and hot temperatures.
  • Exposure to hot equipment.
  • Increased internal body temperature.
  • Collisions or contact with other persons and objects inside or outside of the Sauna.
  • Exposure to airborne illnesses or transmittable diseases.
  • Defects or weaknesses in the design, construction, repair or modification of the Sauna.
  • Visible and invisible natural or man-made hazards in or around the Sauna.
  • Other foreseeable and unforeseeable risks that contribute to the unpredictability of my participation in the Sauna.

Representation of Fitness

I agree that all of the following statements are true:
  • None of the following contra-indications apply
      • Pregnancy
      • Diabetes
      • Seizures e.g. epilepsy
      • Suffering from heart disease, circulatory problems, high or low blood pressure.
      • Suffering from infectious skin disease, sores and wounds.
      • Suffering an illness causing an inability to perspire.
      • Are taking antihistamines, anticoagulants, vasoconstrictors, vasodilators, stimulants, hypnotic or tranquilliser or any other medication which makes the potential user unsure as to the advisability of using the sauna / steam room.
      • Have consumed a heavy a meal 90 mins prior.
      • Suffer from migraine attacks.
      • Suffer from any condition whatsoever that makes the user unsure as to the advisability of using sauna / steam room.
      • You have asthma or breathing conditions.
    Clients that suffer from any one of the above should be referred to their GP for advice on their suitability to use the facilities.
  • I am not taking or under the influence of any drugs, alcohol, medication or other substance affecting my mental or physical state. If you have any concerns about your health, please obtain permission from your GP before using the Sauna.

Assumption of Responsibility

I cannot and will not rely on anyone other than myself to keep me or my personal property from my participation in the sauna, except to the extent such damages, injuries or death results from conduct that constitutes greater than ordinary negligence under UK law.

Members & Their Guests

Stone Rock Lodge Membership is a Privilege and membership can be cancelled at any time without refund for any breech of our terms and conditions. Members are responsible at all times for the behaviour of their guests and have to inform them fully of the Sauna use terms and conditions in the disclaimer below, and advise them against using our facilities if they have any of the health conditions stated in the disclaimer. Do not use the Sauna of Cold Plunges if there is any concern, health condition or reason that you feel could put you or your guests at risk of illness, injury or death. Guests need to also read and accept our disclaimer. Stone Rock Foodies Ltd is not responsible for Member’s Guests, and it is the member who is fully responsible for making sure that they and their guests have fully read, understood and accepted the disclaimer below.

Being a Member gives you and your Guests access to Members Only Sauna Sessions, some of which will be Costume Optional. This means that members and guests have the option of using the Sauna and Plunges whilst naked during the sessions labelled as Costume Optional. Nudity is only permitted within the Sauna and Wellness area of Stone Rock Lodge during these sessions, and clothing is required at all times outside of the Sauna and Wellness area. Using a Sauna whilst naked is common and normal amogst most Sauan cultures of the World and is common practice in Most European Publuc Sauna. Nudity does NOT imply Sexual. Physical contact and any inappropriate behaviour of a sexual nature is strictly prohibited in the Sauna and Wellness area. We take making our patrons feel comfortable and safe and so any Members or their Guests found hassling, bothering or making feel uncomfortable any other patrons on the premises of Stone Rock Lodge, will be asked to leave and have their Membership cancelled without refund or recourse. A Member is fully responsible for their own actions as well as the actions of their guests.

It is a Member’s responsibility to make their guests aware of Sauna Etiquette, which is listed below in this document, reminders of this will be signposted in the Sauna and Wellness Area.

Children and the Sauna

No children under five years of age are permitted to use the sauna as their bodies are unable to self-regulate body temperature sufficiently to use the Sauna. Children over the age of five but under sixteen must be supervised by an adult within the saunas and entire sauna area at all times. No Children under the age of 16 can use the cold-water barrels or plunge pools.

If the participant is under 18 years of age, the parent or legal guardian must also sign this disclaimer: I am the parent or guardian of the minor child named above and have the legal authority to execute the above agreement on his or her behalf. I hereby give my full consent and approval for my child to participate in the sauna. I have read the above agreement, and I intend for it to completely bind me and my minor child. I hereby fully enter into and execute the above agreement on my own behalf of my minor child.

Health and Safety

I will act accordingly to keep myself and others safe at all times whilst using the Sauna. My participation in the Sauna is voluntary and I can refuse to participate or quit participating in the Sauna at any time for any reason. If I see other bathers behaving inappropriately or dangerously, I will report it to a member of Stone Rock Lodge staff.

I understand that if I act in a way to cause other bathers to feel distressed or offended, through inappropriate language, sexual comments, nonconsensual nudity or other offensive behaviour, that I will be asked to leave the Sauna and the Stone Rock Lodge site. The decision to do so is at the discretion of Stone Rock Lodge employees. I will respect their decision and accept it as final.

I understand that the wood-fired sauna stove, rocks, stove door and flu chimney are extremely hot and that they should not be touched, and I’ll only pour water on the rocks as instructed.

Rules and Conduct

We reserve the right to refuse admission or eject from the sauna area any persons thought to be intoxicated. Alcohol and smoking are not permitted in the sauna area.

Sauna clients must vacate the Sauna area completely before the end of their session is complete to allow the next session to begin on time. Please give yourself enough time to shower and dress before the end of your allotted session.

Any hanging jewellery should be removed before entering the sauna to prevent burning.

We have a zero tolerance to inappropriate behaviour and anyone found to be staring, bothering or pestering any other sauna goers or behaving inappropriately in any way, will be ejected from the sauna area and banned Stone Rock Lodge .

Sauna etiquette must be adhered to at all times. This includes:-

    • Entering and exiting the sauna with care and closing the sauna door as quickly as possible so as to not lower the sauna temperature.
    • Asking permission from your fellow sauna goers before pouring water on the stones.
    • Not using essential oils without permission.
    • Sitting on a towel at all times.
    • Removing all footwear before entering the sauna.
    • Not staying in the Sauna for more than 20 minutes at a time (we recommend 5 – 15 minute sessions).
    • Swimwear must be worn at all times in the sauna area unless you have booked a session that is indicated as a ‘Clothing Optional’.
    • No canoodling or intimate physical contact is allowed in the sauna area.

Groups and Private Hire

If you are making a booking on behalf of a group, it is your responsibility to make all users aware of the terms and conditions in this document, and to practice safe sauna use, as well as making others aware of what to bring and other useful information. A Stone Rock Lodge member of staff will be in circulation for private group bookings also, a private booking does not give you or any of your group the permission to break or ignore any of the rules stated in this document.

We reserve the right to refuse admission to anyone that may be deemed a health or safety risk. Refunds will not be offered to anyone refused admission.
